Why Krishna doesn’t give devotion easily ?

Jaya Srila Gurudeva
The following is a letter written by His Holiness Srila Bhakti Bibudha Bodhayan Swami Maharaj to Sriman Divyang Prabhu, in response to his question:
Why Krishna doesn’t give devotion easily?
All glories to His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Thakur Prabhupada and Guru-Parampara (disciplic succession).
Please accept the blessing of my beloved Srila Gurudeva, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Pramode Puri Goswami Maharaj and convey the same to all members in your congregation.

“Krishna Yadi Chhute Bhukti Mukti Diya;  Kabhu Bhakti na den Rakhen Lukaiya” Means- if Krishna gives us Bhukti (material enjoyment)& Mukti (liberation) easily,on the other hand He hides Bhakti (pure devotion) and bestows it only after lots of test.

We have seen in big companies they appoint any employee after an interview (test); although a person may have degrees from remarkable institution with enough marks still the company needs to verify the person’s qualities and  then accordingly they give him a post. Gradually, the person uprades his position in the company by his capacity. We know that Bhakti is the ultimate way to reach Lord’s home, Sri Sri Radha Krishna’s abode, Goloka. Even we are not giving entry to any unknown person in our home. Out of compassion, if we want to allow a person to enter our home; we want to know the person’s where abouts and purpose. The same way, Supreme Lord Krishna wants to test the level of our  faith on Him; in order to test He is giving us mortal comfort and watching our purpose to practice the path of devotion, accordingly he appoints His devotee for His service.

In this regard I would like to tell you a fact between Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Sridhar, who used to sell all types of banana  by-products (Thor-Kala Becha Sridhar):
Once Mahaprabhu was in the mood of full effulgence and showing it to all of His associates. Also, Mahaprabhu said : – today everyone can ask a boon from me and I will fulfill it, whatever you ask” Everyone came one by one gradually begging, Mahaprabhu fulfilled everyone’s desires. At last Mahaprabhu called for Sridhar who came before the Lord, Mahaprabhu told him:” Sridhar today I would like to give you a boon”, immediately Sridhar began crying, the Lord continued “Sridhar I can bestow you such type a boon that you may transform dust into gold!” Sridhar crying humbly replied ” Oh my Lord please do not cheat me” still Mahaprabhu insisted in the same manner. Then Sridhar beggingly replied:” Prabhu if you really want to give me a boon please keep me at your feet life after life after life, and please do not insist that I take such mundane oppulences.

Please understand the answer through this analogy.

Please accept my affection and convey the same to all the members in your family.

I am praying to Lord Nishrimhadev for curing all your obstacles in order to observe pure devotion for the rest of your life without offenses.

Sincerely yours in the services of the Supreme Lord and His associates,
B.B. Bodhayan
